TOPIC:Â Firm Footing
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Jude 1:24-25
KEY VERSE: To him who is able to keep you from stumbling – Jude 1:24
MESSAGE: It was a cold, icy winter and my mind was on getting home where it would be nice and warm. The next thing I knew I was on the ground, my knees turned inward and my lower legs turned outward. Nothing was broken, but I was in pain. The pain and stiffness got worse as time went by. It was weeks before I was feeling better.
We’ve all had falls, trips and bumps—some big, some small. Wouldn’t it be nice to have something or someone to keep us on our feet all the time? While there’s nothing to make sure we never trip over, there is Someone who is ready to keep us standing as Christians.
Every day we face distractions from God and temptations to just do as we please. There are many things out there looking to confuse us and tie us up in problems. Thankfully, it’s not just up to us to keep on living for God, no matter what. It’s good to know that we have God’s power in us to keep us standing for the right things (Jude 1:24): to keep quiet when we want to say mean things to someone; to stick to the truth, even if it gets us in trouble.
And, when we stand before God when Jesus returns, enjoying His favour, our thanks and praise to Him will last forever (v.25)!
REFLECT: GOD WILL KEEP US FROM FALLING OVER; HE’LL KEEP US ON OUR FEET WHEN WE STUMBLE.
