TOPIC: Losing Courage?
MEMORISE
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
Psalms 42:5
READ: Numbers 13:32-33
32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. 33 We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”
OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE:
God had promised to take the Israelites to the Promised Land. He delivered them from the hands of their slavemasters in Egypt, parted the Red Sea for them to walk on dry land, and caused Pharaoh and his men, who were in hot pursuit after them, to perish in the sea. He also provided manna from heaven for them, and when they wanted meat, He provided them with quails. He fought and won many battles for them, but when they were faced with giants, they became discouraged – except Joshua and Caleb.
My dear child, the troubles of life can make you become discouraged, thereby leading to a fear of failure and loss of hope. Discouragement often comes when a fellow is about to achieve an important feat in life.
Have you been asking things from God, and it seems the answers are far-fetched? Don’t stop asking until your joy is full. Are you about to write an examination in which you believe that you will not score very high because you are not good at the subject or course? That mindset is not of God. Study hard for the examination and ask the Holy Spirit for help today.
