BIBLE READING
Genesis 41:33-36
33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.
34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.
35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
Open Heaven For Teens 23 April 2026 MESSAGE
In today’s Bible reading, Joseph advised Pharaoh to store food during the years of plenty to prepare for the famine that was coming. As a result of his advice, Egypt and many other nations survived the famine.
My dear child, I implore you to develop the habit of saving for the future. Instead of spending all your allowance or earnings immediately, set aside a portion for future needs. Whether it is for your education, skill acquisition, a church project, or personal goals, being financially disciplined will ensure that you are prepared for unexpected challenges.
We live in an age where the latest gadgets, clothing, and online trends are constantly promoted. Many young people feel pressured to keep up with their peers by purchasing expensive items, which usually leads to wasteful spending. However, controlling yourself in financial matters is a display of responsibility and wisdom.
A simple method for managing money wisely is applying the “10-10-80 principle”: give 10% as tithe to God, save 10%, and budget the remaining 80% for essential expenses. Practising this principle will help you avoid financial stress and teach you the importance of accountability and contentment.
Key Point
Don’t spend all you get; save a portion of it.
