Open Heaven For Teens 14 April 2026 TOPIC: In Dark Times
MEMORISE
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
Psalm 42:11
BIBLE READING
Acts 16:22-26
22 A mob was quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the judges ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden whips. 23 Again and again the rods slashed down across their bared backs; and afterwards they were thrown into prison. The jailer was threatened with death if they escaped,[a] 24 so he took no chances, but put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet into the stocks.
25 Around midnight, as Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to the Lord—and the other prisoners were listening— 26 suddenly there was a great earthquake; the prison was shaken to its foundations, all the doors flew open—and the chains of every prisoner fell off!
Open Heaven For Teens 14 April 2026 Devotional | MESSAGE
Whenever we feel sad, the Bible encourages us to praise God in the beauty of His holiness. One of the Bible’s characters who consistently praised God was King David. Irrespective of the circumstances he found himself in, he danced for God like no man’s business, and God referred to him as a man after His heart.
In today’s Bible reading, Paul and Silas were thrown into prison, and it seemed like all hope was lost. However, instead of giving in to despair, they rose at midnight and sang praises to God. Before their worship session ended, the prison doors flung open. I believe God heard their praises and sent an angel to break their chains and set them free.
My dear child, are you struggling with a burden you can’t share with anyone? Do you feel caged by life’s difficulties? Instead of being overwhelmed, rise in faith and worship God wholeheartedly, as Paul and Silas did. As you praise Him, any chain of sadness that may be in your life will break, and His peace will flood your heart.
