The Way Up(2)
by Rev. (Dr) Lizzy Johnson-Suleman
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 1-3
TEXT: Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel. – Joshua 1 :1 – 2.
Message: Devoted service to God does not leave any man at the same level. Whoever serves God dutifully whereever God has called him to serve ends up at the top. Take a look at Joshua, he was always in the business of serving his master, Moses and whereever Moses was, he was with him serving, ever committed to the course and assignment that God gave his master and in due season, God lifted him up. He was the one God chose to carry on the baton of leadership after Moses and he took the children of Israel to the Promised Land.
Hear me, it may not be immediate, but service ultimately pays beyond what you could ever imagine. I encourage you to serve because there is no true servant that does not eventually become a master. Take a look at Elisha, he served his master, Elijah with singleness of purpose, with a sincere heart and his desire for a double portion was granted. Gehazi had all it took to enjoy the same lifting like Elisha but he had a wrong heart and a wrong heart generates a wrong hand.
He came around his master for gains and little wonder, he brought the leprosy of Naaman on himself and his generation. Jesus speaking unto His disciples said, “… Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing” (Luke 12 :42-43).
I see God projecting you to the very top of your destiny. You are meant for the top, so go up and stay up.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, I receive the heart of service.
