God’s Temple

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 28-29
TEXT : And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, it is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. – Matthew 21 :12 – 13.
God deemed it so important to have fellowship with man. From creation in Genesis 3 :8 – 9; “And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. And the LORD God called into Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?” God was seeking for man to have fellowship with him.
After losing that fellowship with man in Genesis 3 :9; “And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?” God went ahead to re-establish that fellowship physically through to the presence of the ark of covenant. Exodus 33 :14; “And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest”. 2 Samuel 6 :11; “And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obed-edom, and all his household.
God’s Ark dwelt in tents and David taught it wise to build for God but God instructed David that his son Solomon will build a house for Him. Solomon built the temple of God and when they dedicated the house the priest could not enter because of glory. “And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’S house” 2 Chronicles 7 :2.
God temple carries the glory of God which will give you rest, prosperity, safety and so on. No wonder David said in Psalm 122 :1; “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD”. When you go to a cinema house, club house, walls of school, football stadium etc. you know what you expect to see, so also when you come to God’s temple there are things you expect to see, Glory. God’s temple is not just a building.
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray now, help me to always be in your presence.
