MOUNTAIN TOP LIFE DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Miriam was a leader. She had a great influence on the women in their congregation such that they all followed her. The Bible says”. ….and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.” She must have lived a life worthy of emulation that may have caused all the women to want to follow her leadership. I want to point out here that all the women could not have been so sheepish to be following a leader who does not have track record of exemplary lifestyle. Even if some are that sheepish, definitely all cannot be. The Scripture says all went after her. What a great leader!

Beloved, when you look at how you interact with others, are you someone that others want to be around and follow? What kind of leader are you? Is it the one that tell people to “do as I say but don’t do as I do.” Note that before all the women went after her with timbrels, she herself first of all took a timbrel. She led by example. She wasn’t like the Pharisees that bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers- (Matthew 23:4). She didn’t sit on the high table bossing everyone around. Her leadership made others want to serve God.

Another lesson we can learn from her is that she was a worshipper. She sang praises to God with her voice, timbrel and dance. God has won a major battle for them. She didn’t trivialize the doings of God. Rather, she showed it and danced as David danced. Although, they are not yet in their promised land, she celebrated every bit of the victories that showed up along the way to their promised land. She was not ashamed to testify to the world that God is the doer of wonders. Many of us take so many of God’s wonders in our lives for granted. Let us cultivate the habit of worshiping God all the time.
