MFM Devotional 24 June 2026 – MESSAGE

As a Christian employer, you have the responsibility to lead with integrity, fairness and compassion, reflecting Christs love in the workplace. Your actions and decisions should be guided by biblical principles, ensuring that your employees feel valued and respected.

I recall the story of Mr. Okoye, a Christian businessman in Abuja who owned a thriving construction company. Mr. Okoye was known for his fair treatment of employees, providing them with fair wages, safe working conditions, and opportunities for professional growth. He implemented regular training programmes, ensured timely payment of salaries, and maintained open communication with his staff. Mr. Okoye’s compassionate leadership created a positive work environment, leading to high employee satisfaction and loyalty. His company’s reputation for ethical practices attracted more clients, and his business flourished. Mr. Okoye’s story is a testament to the blessings that come from leading with integrity and compassion.

Similarly, there is the story of Mrs. Adjei, a Christian woman from Ghana who owned a small tailoring shop. Despite facing financial challenges, Mrs. Adjei made it a priority to treat her workers with kindness and respect. She provided flexible working hours for mothers, offered interest-free loans during emergencies, and organized regular team-building activities. Her actions fostered a sense of community and support within her business. As a result, her employees were motivated and committed to their work, contributing to the success and growth of the tailoring shop.

God’s word provides clear guidance on how Christian employers should treat their employees. Colossians 4:1 says, “Masters, provide your slaves with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.” This verse emphasizes the importance of fairness and justice in leadership.

Ephesians 6:9 instructs, “And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.” Christian employers are called to lead without favoritism and to create a safe and respectful work environment. Matthew 7:12, known as the Golden Rule, reminds us, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.” By treating employees with respect and kindness, Christian employers reflect Christ’s
love and create a positive impact in the workplace.
