33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

MFM Devotional 15 May 2026 | MESSAGE

Each of the biblical examples above highlights the serious consequences of trying to take God’s glory for oneself. Whether through pride, rebellion, or self-promotion, usurping God’s glory is a sin that leads to a person’s downfall or outright destruction. Beloved, we are called to humble ourselves, acknowledge God’s sovereignty, and direct all glory to Him alone. The Bible makes it clear in our memory verse, James 4: 6 that God opposes the proud but shows favour to the humble. Anyone who wants to be a friend of God and
enjoys His favour must humble himself or herself before Him.

God frowns seriously at any act of pride and arrogance. Throughout Scripture, He makes it unequivocally clear that His glory is not to be shared with anyone. In Isaiah 42:8, He states: “I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” This verse sets the foundation: God alone is worthy of glory.

When humans attempt to take credit for what God has done, they dishonour Him and violate this divine principle. Unfortunately, many people fall into the fatal error of accepting the glory that belongs to God. Believers are called to reflect, not steal God’s glory
Jesus taught His followers to let their good works point others to God, not to themselves.

Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” The goal is always to glorify God, not ourselves. We are vessels through which His glory is revealed. Taking God’s glory is not a small matter; it is rebellion. Failure to acknowledge Him robs God of the honour due to His name and attracts divine judgement.
