TODAY’S TOPIC: FAITH FOR THE JOURNEY (I)

Fire Scripture: Hebrews 11:1-12

Today’s Outline On MFM Daily Devotional 3rd January 2021

Faith is indispensable in the journey of a believer. Faith is demonstrating courageous trust in the All-Powerful and All-Sufficient God who owns our lives and is in charge of our journey. As a believer, your journey can be bumpy and chequered. Storms can come and you can go through bitter experiences, but you will not be swallowed if you have faith in God.

You cannot survive the journey of life without faith in the unfailing and supernatural ability of the Almighty God. The Bible provides several reasons why you should live by faith and make it your companion this year and beyond. Let us examine some of them: First, faith assures success (2 Chron. 20:20; Mark 11:22; Lk. 8:50). It is a fundamental duty of every believer (John 6:28; John 20:27). It is a defensive weapon (Eph. 6:16; 1 Thess. 5:8; 1 Tim. 1:19; 6:12; Heb. 10:22). It is an indispensable element in religion (Heb. 11:6).

It is essential in prayer (James 5:1-6), and it should be exercised with love (1 John 3:23). It is important that you understand the supernatural power of faith. With this understanding, you will exercise unwavering faith and reap its inestimable benefits. It was faith that kept Job from denying God in spite of the devil’s numerous afflictions and his wife’s unfaithfulness. In the end, God turned his captivity around and blessed him with double of what he had before.

Faith took Abraham from the land of the Chaldeans as nobody and made him a man of renown and God’s friend. It was faith that mysteriously took Joseph to the throne of Egypt as a Prime Minister, next to the king. His faith in the Sovereign Lord remained unwavering, in spite of all odds. He was sold to slavery, yet his faith in God, who had shown him his colourful destiny, did not shake.

Portiphar’s wife lied against him and he was falsely cast into prison; he still held on to God, believing that He would intervene and fulfil His word. Faith made David a man after God’s heart and the disciples of Jesus world-changers.

Beloved, I encourage you to make faith your life companion. In this year 2021 especially, put your faith to work and let it propel you to new heights.

Memory Verse: Hebrew 11:6 – “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Motivational Quote: If you have faith, you have everything.

Prophetic Word: I decree that your faith will not fail, in the name of Jesus.

HYMN: GUIDE ME OH THOU JEHOVAH

1. Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy pow’rful hand;
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more,
Feed me till I want no more.

2. Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing stream doth flow;
Let the fire and cloudy pillar Lead me all my journey through;
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer,
Be Thou still my strength and shield.
Be Thou still my strength and shield.

3. When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Bear me thro’ the swelling current,
Lead me safe on Canaan’s side;
Songs of praises, songs of praises
I will ever give to Thee, I will ever give to Thee.
