PRAYER BATTLE (2)

SECTION 1: WIPING OFF DARK HANDWRITING

HYMN NO: 1 – LORD, HER WATCH THY CHURCH IS KEEPING

1.  Lord, her watch Thy Church is keeping
When shall earth Thy rule obey?
When shall end the night of weeping?
When shall break the promised day?
See the whitening harvest languish,
Waiting still the laborers’ toil;
Was it vain, Thy Son’s deep anguish?
Shall the Strong retain the spoil?

2.  Tidings, sent to every creature,
Millions yet have never heard:
Can they hear without a preacher?
Lord Almighty, give the word!
Give the word! In every nation
Let the gospel trumpet sound,
Witnessing a world’s salvation,
To the earth’s remotest bound

3.  Then the end! Thy Church completed,
All Thy chosen gathered in,
With their King in glory seated,
Satan bound, and banished sin;
Gone for ever parting, weeping,
Hunger, sorrow, death, and pain;
Lo! Her watch Thy Church is keeping;
Come, Lord Jesus, come to reign!

HYMN NO: 2 – IT IS A THING MOST WONDERFUL

1.   It is a thing most wonderful,
Almost too wonderful to be,
That God’s own Son should come
from heaven,
And die to save a child like me.

2.  And yet I know that it is true:
He chose a poor and humble lot,
And wept and toiled and mourned
and died
For love of those who loved him not.

3.  I cannot tell how he could love
A child so weak and full of sin;
His love must be most wonderful,
If he could die my love to win.

4.  It is most wonderful to know
His love for me so free and sure;
But ‘tis more wonderful to see
My love for him so faint and poor.

5.  And yet I want to love thee, Lord;
O light the flame within my heart,
And I will love thee more and more,
Until I see thee as thou art.

HYMN NO: 3 – LORD, ENTHRONED IN HEAV’NLY SPLENDOR

1.  Lord, enthroned in heav’nly splendor,
First-begotten from the dead,
Thou alone, our strong Defender,
Liftest up Thy people’s head.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Jesus, true and living Bread!

2.  Here our humblest homage pay we,
Here in loving rev’rence bow:
Here for faith’s discernment pray we,
Lest we fail to know thee now.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou art here, we ask not how.

3.  Though the lowliest form doth veil thee
As of old in Bethlehem,
Here as there thine angels hail thee,
Branch and Flow’r of Jesse’s Stem.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
We in worship join with them

4.  Paschal Lamb! Thine off’ring finished
Once for all when Thou wast slain
In its fullness undiminished
Shall for evermore remain.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Cleansing souls from ev’ry stain.

5.  Life-imparting heav’nly Manna,
Stricken Rock, with streaming side,
Heav’n and earth with loud hosanna
Worship Thee, the Lamb who died.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Ris’n, ascended, glorified!

HYMN NO: 4 – WELL, I’VE BEEN TO THE RIVER, I’VE BEEN BAPTIZED

1.  Well, I’ve been to the river,
I’ve been baptized;
I’ve been washed in the blood of the lamb,
I’ve been changed from the creature that
once I was,
And redeemed is now my name.

Chorus
I’ve been changed
I’m a new born now
All my life has been rearranged
What a difference it made,
When the Lord came and stayed,
In my heart, oh yes, I’ve been changed.

  1. Though my sins were as scarlet, they’re
    white as snow,
    I was bound but today, I am free,
    I was lost in the darkness but now am found,
    I was blind but now I see.

3.  Like the poor Hebrew children, I
wandered long,
In a bare desert land to and fro;
But I crossed over Jordan to Canaan’s land,
Where the milk and honey flow.

4.  When at last in His presence I stand above,
He will wipe all the tears from my eyes;
And I’ll thank Him for giving a wretch like me,
Lasting hope beyond the skies.

HYMN NO: 5 – THE RESURRECTION MORN

1.  The resurrection morn,
Away with care and sorrow!
My Love, the Crucified,
Hath sprung to life that morning.

Refrain
Had Christ, that once was slain,
Ne’er burst His three day prison,
Our faith had been in vain;
But now hath Christ arisen,
Arisen, arisen, arisen!

2.  My flesh in hope shall rest,
And for a season slumber;
Till trump from east to west,
Shall wake the dead in number.

3.  Death’s flood hath lost his chill,
Since Jesus crossed the river:
Lover of souls, from ill
My passing soul deliver.

HYMN NO: 6 – O JESUS I HAVE PROMISED

1.  O Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me,
My Master and my Friend:
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my guide.

2.  O let me feel Thee near me,
The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle,
The tempting sounds I hear:
My foes are ever near me,
Around me and within;
But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
And shield my soul from sin.

3.  O let me hear Thee speaking
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of selfwill,
O speak to reassure me,
To chasten or control;
O speak, and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul.

4.  O Jesus, Thou hast promised
To all who follow Thee,
That where Thou art in glory,
There shall Thy servant be;
And, Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow,
My Master and my Friend.

5.  O let me see Thy footmarks
And in them plant mine own;
My hope to follow duly
Is in Thy strength alone,
O guide me, call me, draw me,
Uphold me to the end;
And then in heaven receive me,
My Saviour and my Friend.
