Joni and Friends Devotional 5th June 2023, Monday Message. As you study today’s devotional, remember this; “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (NLT)

TOPIC: The Right Direction

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16

I’m going in two directions at once. But I’m not undecided about things. You see, Second Corinthians 4, 16 says, “Outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” Outwardly, my abilities and strength are diminishing (I’m getting to the point with my quadriplegia, that it’s getting harder to feed myself).

But inwardly? Oh, oh, I’m gaining so much; I’m gaining a greater capacity for Jesus (and that offsets my physical losses). So, my advice? Outwardly? Let go of what you can hold onto physically, while inwardly, lean hard on Jesus. Believe him more. Love him more. Be slightly different, more obedient and affectionate toward Jesus than you were yesterday. So, don’t be undecided. Get going in the right direction and gain more of Jesus.
