Joni and Friends Devotional 17th October 2023 Tuesday Message. As you study today’s devotional, remember this; “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. TOPIC: Signposts Pointing the Way Home
“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” – Psalm 16:11
Will heaven’s ecstasies really go on forever? Is it true we will never become bored? God sprinkles tiny hints of heaven on earth to give an inkling—just the briefest glimpses—of the wonders that await us. You may catch a suggestion of it in a magnificent sunset.
Or hear a faint trace of it in the haunting strains of Dvorak’s New World Symphony. Or smell it in the ocean air when dark, gray clouds blow in from the distance. Or recognize it in the soft gaze of someone you love. If these are mere flashes and keyhole glances of heaven, what will the reality be?
Every earthly beauty that moves your heart is a God-sent gift to whet your appetite for the next life. Yes, the way here on earth can be terribly dark and difficult at times. But our Lord has left signposts pointing the way home.
Lord Jesus, I remember Your prayer: “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory” (John 17:24). I think that’s the best thought about heaven. You want me there! You want to be with me forever! You’re waiting for the day when I walk through the door.
