Joni and Friends Devotional 16th October 2023 Monday Message. As you study today’s devotional, remember this; “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. TOPIC: In the Savior We Trust
On days when I have pain with no relief, man, I’m running for the bottle of Tylenol. I mean, I’m looking for the Advil. I’m looking for an ice pack or, I don’t know, a really good distraction or someone to massage where it hurts, anything. Jesus dealt with his pain, but he did it a little differently than we do because when he was in his worst physical pain, it says that, “They offered him wine mixed with myrrh.”
It would’ve softened the edges of Jesus’ suffering, right? But get this, our savior determined that his sacrifice on our behalf would not be diminished, would not be soothed even for a little bit. He would not stop short of his mission to suffer for our salvation. And man, that speaks to me when I am in pain.
Oh, how I bless my savior for his hard-fought for power, for his victory and suffering, power and victory that he freely gives me. So choose a trusting, yielding attitude in your pain, your discomfort, because honestly, the best prescription for any affliction is always to trust in your suffering, yet conquering savior.
