John Hagee Devotional 24th December 2024, Tuesday Message
Today’s Scripture
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
The prophet Isaiah spoke of the coming Messiah – from the cradle to the cross, His mission and majesty. He looked ahead to a time when the government would rest on His shoulders, when He would rule from Jerusalem, and exercise dominion over the whole world.
God has established Jesus as King over an empire that will never be destroyed and will stand forever (Daniel 2:44). The Lord’s Prayer makes it clear that His is “the kingdom and the power and the glory forever” (Matthew 6:13).
When Christ returns to earth the next time, He will set up His kingdom on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Kings and queens, presidents and prime ministers from all corners of the earth will come to pay Him homage. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11).
Peace will settle over all people as His glory floods the earth. Weapons will be destroyed. Armies will be dismantled. Jails will close down. Hospitals will sit empty. The lion will lie down with the lamb. Jesus, the Word of God, will have the final say as He sits on the eternal throne of King David. Of that government, there shall be no end.
