Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
The author of Hebrews urged us to hone in on the one thing that helps us run well and cross the finish line victoriously: look to Jesus!
Do not get distracted by doubts and debates, feelings and facts that slow our progress. Shake off the sin that traps and trips us up! We cannot run well when our shoulders bow under the weight and our feet are held fast in the vice of sin. Strip them off, and run for the prize!
When the road gets long, the Spirit comes alongside to comfort and guide. When the scorching sun parches our throats, the Living Water quenches our thirst. When our feet drag through the valley of the shadow of death, He lights up the dark and bolsters our courage.
Focus on Jesus! Let’s fix our hearts on Him and set our faces like flint towards the Author and Finisher of our faith. The One Who began this good work in us will faithfully complete it (Philippians 1:6). He sets us free to run in the path of His commands!
John Hagee Daily Devotional 15th December 2020 Message
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. As you fix your eyes on Jesus, may you run your race with power and joy until you one day cross the finish line and fall into His waiting arms.
