Today’s Scripture
Esther 4:16, NIV – “I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”
Today’s Word
Esther was a Jewish orphan girl living in exile in Persia when God raised her up out of obscurity to become the queen. I imagine that people were scratching their heads. “How did a nobody like her marry the king? Do you know what neighborhood she was raised in? I don’t get it.” But God loves to take the underestimated and do something awesome. In Esther’s case, His purpose was to use her position to save the Jewish people from destruction. In the face of the loss of her own life, Esther discovered the greatness that God put inside her and was catapulted into her destiny.
God puts us in situations that feel too big, too strong, too much for us. When you’re tempted to feel overwhelmed, outnumbered, and not enough, instead of giving up have a new perspective: “This is moving me toward my God-given purpose. I know His favor is coming to help me defy the odds. I know that new doors are about to open. God will do what only He can do and cause me to shine.”
Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You that You are Almighty God and the power of Your favor is working in my life. Thank You for the opportunities You will bring my way to step into ‘such a time as this’ moments and fulfill my purpose. I believe You will help me discover the greatness You put inside me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
