TOPIC: A New Way of Seeing
Today’s Scripture
They made the bronze basin and its bronze stand from the mirrors of the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting. – Exodus 38:8, NIV
Today’s Word
After the Israelites were delivered from slavery and were in the wilderness, they had a large tent or tabernacle where they met for worship. Before the priests could go into the altar area, they had to cleanse their hands and feet in a large bronze basin of water that had been made from the mirrors their Egyptian captors had given the Israelite women when they left.
Mirrors in that day were made out of highly polished bronze and were very valuable. But every time the women looked in those mirrors, they saw defeated slaves staring back at them, reminding them of how unfair it was, how inferior they were.
God was saying, “Give me those mirrors. I’m melting down any image—the shame, the heartache, the guilt, the unworthiness—that does not reflect who I made you to be. The next time you see the mirrors, they’re going to be in a bowl for cleansing. I’m giving you a new way of seeing yourself—as righteous, holy, and blameless.” God is saying the same to you today. See yourself as He sees you.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You that I can give You the image of how I see myself and begin to see myself the way You see me as blessed, prosperous, healthy, strong, talented, and successful. Help me to get the negative images out and the fresh, new vision in. I believe that my vision will become a reality. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
