TODAY’S WORD
When Jesus was crucified, the thick curtain or veil of the temple was torn from top to bottom. Behind the veil was the Holy of Holies that had historically housed the Ark of the Covenant, which symbolized God’s presence. No one was allowed to go in there except the high priest, and then only once a year on the Day of Atonement, to offer a sacrifice for the sins of all the people. When the veil was torn, that signified that God had moved out of the temple and into us. Now we are the temples where God dwells. From the moment that Jesus died, the people no longer had to make sacrifices to cover their sins. Jesus became the sacrifice for our sins once and for all, starting this new and better covenant through His own sacrifice.

Don’t try to sew the veil back together. Don’t try to pay God back for your sins with good works and sacrifices. The price has already been paid. All your sins—past, present, and future—have been forgiven. Receive His mercy, receive His love, and walk in the better covenant.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that I am forgiven. Thank You that I am redeemed by the blood of Your Son Jesus. Thank You that the price for my sins has been paid once and for all. I receive Your love and forgiveness and refuse to live under guilt and condemnation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
