Today’s Scripture
“Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” – 1 Samuel 17:36–37, NIV
Today’s Word
When David was about to face Goliath, a giant twice his size, he could have remembered how small and inexperienced he was in combat. He could have remembered how his oldest brother and his father didn’t believe in him. He had negative things in his past, just as we all have. But David understood this principle: Dwelling on defeats, failures, and unfair situations will keep you stuck. He chose to dwell on his past victories, and he rose above that challenge and became who God created him to be.
You may be in tough times, facing challenges. The way you’re going to stay encouraged, and the way you will have the faith to overcome, is to start remembering your successes, your victories, and the times you’ve overcome. It’s all in how you train your mind. When you remember the right things, you won’t be saying, “This problem is too big.”
Instead, you’ll be saying, “God, You did it for me once, and I know You can do it for me again.” Rehearse your victories. Remembering the good things will make you strong.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for Your greatness and power and glory and how Your hand has been upon my life in so many ways. Thank You for the countless things You have made happen for my good that I could never make happen. I will remember my victories and know that You will do them again. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
