TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.” – Matthew 2:20, NIV
TODAY’S WORD
When King Herod heard from the Magi about the newborn “king of the Jews,” an angel appeared to Joseph and told him to flee with Mary and Jesus to Egypt, as Herod was going to kill Jesus. Imagine someone trying to take your child’s life. How on edge would you be, always looking over your shoulder? Joseph’s whole world had been turned upside down.
When Herod died, an angel appeared to Joseph again and told him to return. I’m sure Joseph was thrilled to finally be able to relax, but I can imagine that Joseph wanted to stay in Egypt where he knew they were safe. But to reach your destiny, you have to do what the Father requires.
Notice the “take” and “go.” Don’t stay where it feels safe when the Father says to “take and go.” Don’t let the setback keep you from pursuing your dream. The people who were holding you back have lost their influence. The power of the sickness, the addiction, or the trouble at work has been broken. Take what belongs to you and go.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
“Father, thank You that no matter what challenge I face, I can stay in peace, knowing that You have a safe place for me. Thank You that You can turn every situation around and help me move forward to the next level. I declare that Your power has broken anything that holds me back. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
