Naysayers.
Joel Osteen
Today’s Scripture
Then they scoffed, “He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.
Mark 6:3, NLT
Today’s Word
The people in Jesus’ hometown had heard about His miracles, but when He began teaching in their synagogue, they refused to believe in Him. They acknowledged His wisdom and didn’t discount His miracles, but they concluded that He was just one of them, a common carpenter, surely not the Messiah. As a result, Jesus marveled at their unbelief and was only able to heal a few sick people.
When you take the limits off God and dare to believe for great things, don’t be surprised if people try to talk you out of it. They will say things such as, “You really think you’ll get well, or start that business, or break that addiction? I don’t know. Seems kind of far out to me. God doesn’t still heal and bless and show favor. That was for Bible days.” Don’t let anyone talk you out of what God put in your heart. You have to know that there never was a day of miracles; there’s a God of miracles. He’s still alive. He’s still on the throne. Believe big, dream big, and pray big.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for Your Beloved Son who is everything He says He is and is still doing mighty works today. Thank You that I can put unbelief far from me and awaken my faith to believe and ask bigger than I ever have. I want my faith to amaze You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
