John 8:36, NIV
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
TODAY’S WORD
Many people struggle with an addiction to something. Perhaps you’ve tried to stop, with no success. Thoughts have told you that’s just who you are. No, that’s not who you are, that’s what you do. Who you are is a child of the Most High God. You weren’t created to be addicted. You were created to be free, and this is a day for breakthroughs. I declare that you are free in Christ. What’s held you back in the past will not hold you back any more. Chains are being loosed right now; strongholds are coming down. You’re about to step into freedom that you’ve never seen. What used to be a struggle is about to get easier. The desire for that addiction is going to get less and less. The strength of what’s coming against you has been cut off, and its power over you has come to an end. Now every day keep speaking victory over your life. “Father, thank You that I am free. I will become all You’ve created me to be.”
PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that when Christ conquered death on the cross, He broke the power of every negative thing that’s trying to hold me back. Thank You that I am free and the chains are falling off. I believe and declare that the strongholds are coming down. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
About Joel Osteen
Raised in Houston, Texas, with a loving family of seven and world-renowned parents in full-time ministry, Joel Osteen never imagined that he would follow so closely in his father’s footsteps. As a young man, his training and interests were behind the scenes in television production, though he was close to his father in ministry.

His father always encouraged him to preach, but Joel would politely decline time and time again until one day in October 1999 when his father was admitted to the hospital with kidney complications. Joel finally agreed to preach the next Sunday, and his father passed the following week. Joel’s first sermon was the last his father ever heard. Joel and his wife, Victoria, were suddenly thrust into full-time leadership of Lakewood Church.
