Summary:
God wants to talk to us; it’s His will that we hear from Him. However, sometimes we may be so focused on our own problems that we can’t hear what He is saying. There’s never a problem with God speaking; the issue is always with something we may be doing to block His voice.
Notes:
1. God is always talking to us; however, some things we do prevent us from hearing
Him. Unbelief, an undeveloped spirit, spiritual deafness, a hardened conscience, and
neglect block us from hearing God.
- Unbelief is one hindrance to hearing from Him. Everything in God’s kingdom
operates by faith, and when we walk in unbelief, we block our ability to pick up what
He’s saying. -
An undeveloped spirit is the second hindrance. The Holy Spirit speaks to us through
our spirits; our conscience is the voice of our spirit. -
A spirit of deafness tells us we can’t hear from Him; a calloused conscience happens
when our hearts are hardened to the point where we can no longer receive from
God. -
Neglect comes from failure to spend time in prayer and regular communion with the
Holy Spirit.
