DCLM Daily Manna 5th May 2026 – MESSAGE

John Wesley was convinced that the prayers of God’s people rather than his preaching, accounted for the thousands who came to Christ through his ministry. He was known for his cliché, “God will do nothing except in answer to prayer.” We can echo with him that our prayer is a powerful weapon in the battle against Satan.

Daniel, in our text, was so disturbed by the revelation about Israel’s future that he could do nothing except fast and pray. Three weeks later, a heavenly messenger appeared, saying that God had sent him the day the prophet began to pray, but that the prince of Persia had detained him. This “prince” was a demonic personality, a principality that had dominion over Persia in the spiritual realm. To frustrate the plans of God for Israel and perpetuate the captivity of Jews, he was mandated to influence the policies of the rulers of Persia, and indirectly oppose the will of God. He had withstood God’s messenger, until the archangel, Michael, came to his aid.

Without any doubt, the conflict between good and evil is continually being fought in the invisible spiritual world. The primary objects of attack are the eternal destiny of saints, church evangelistic programmes designed to save souls, prayers to wrest sinners from the jaws of the devil, and the furtherance of the word of God for the edification of the Church.

There were forces against Daniel but he prevailed because of his inherent impregnable spiritual energy of faith, focus and fervency in prayer. You can be optimistic and assured that God answers prayers and that He is in control. You can be confident that all will end well for those who trust in God. It is comforting to know that He permits the rise of evil forces and orchestrates their fall as part of His incomprehensible master plan. Through it all, God draws unbelievers to Himself and ensures the victory and eternal good of His children because He still answers prayers.
