Read DCLM Daily Manna – 21st August 2025, Thursday Devotional Message.
TOPIC: The Vengeance of God
KEY VERSE:
“I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.” – (Jude 1:5).
SCRIPTURE READING: Jude 1:5-7 (Christian Standard Bible)
5 Now I want to remind you, although you came to know all these things once and for all, that Jesus[a] saved a people out of Egypt and later destroyed those who did not believe; 6 and the angels who did not keep their own position but abandoned their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains in deep darkness for the judgment on the great day. 7 Likewise, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns committed sexual immorality and perversions,[b] and serve as an example by undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.
DCLM Daily Manna – 21 August 2025: MESSAGE:
A physician once refused to treat a patient for amnesia, emphasising the importance of remembering important information. In today’s world, there is a widespread forgetfulness that requires constant reminders for people to absorb and follow commands. Apostle Jude, like other apostles before him, emphasises the importance of sharing stories of faith and reinforcing convictions among believers. With the prevalence of falsehoods and false teachings, Christians must be vigilant about the foundations of their faith. Jude warns believers to learn from the experiences of unfaithful people in the past, such as the Israelites in the wilderness. In a time of “once saved, forever saved” beliefs, Jude stresses the importance of remaining faithful and remembering God’s dealings with those who were unfaithful.
Jude reminded believers of God’s punishment for disobedient Israel, who despite being delivered from Egypt, perished in the wilderness due to unbelief and rebellion. This challenges the idea of once saved, forever saved, emphasising the importance of faith and obedience. God’s consistency in judgment from the old covenant to today raises the question of why He would spare those who reject belief or refuse to repent. This serves as a warning to wilful sinners who have turned away from God, highlighting the consequences of unbelief and rebellion. The message is clear: faith and obedience are essential for salvation.
God is a consuming fire that will destroy unbelievers who refuse to repent. Paul agreed with Jude when He wrote, “He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?” (Hebrews 10:28,29).
We must never take God for granted. His laws are sacrosanct and must be obeyed. No one should plant sin, hoping to reap righteousness. All sinful souls must realise that there is a deep gulf fixed between those in heaven and all who refuse God’s offer of salvation while alive. They will spend eternity in hell fire. Today is the acceptable day to repent and return under the safe cover of the Almighty God. Further delay is very dangerous.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Delaying the day of salvation is a dangerous gamble no one should take.
