BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY: “He is not a mortal, as I am, that I might answer him, that we should come to trial together. There is no umpire between us, who might lay his hand on us both.” – Job 9:32–33
Job spoke these words from a place of deep pain and human limitation. He recognized the greatness and holiness of God, and at the same time, he felt the weakness of humanity. In his suffering, Job longed for someone who could stand between him and God—someone who could bridge the gap.
He said, “There is no umpire between us.”
An umpire, or mediator, is someone who stands between two parties to bring understanding, peace, and reconciliation. Job understood that humanity could not approach a holy God on its own strength.
What Job longed for, God ultimately provided through Jesus Christ.
Jesus became the perfect mediator between God and mankind. He understands God completely because He is divine, and He understands us completely because He became human. Through Him, we no longer stand distant from God. We can come boldly into God’s presence with confidence and grace.
This is the beauty of the gospel.
We are no longer separated.
We are no longer without hope.
We are no longer trying to reach God by our own effort.
Jesus has made the way.
Whenever you feel unworthy, distant, or overwhelmed by your weaknesses, remember that Christ stands as your mediator. He intercedes for you, represents you before the Father, and brings you into relationship with God.
You do not have to carry the burden of trying to earn God’s acceptance. Through Jesus, you are invited near.
So today, rest in the assurance that you are not alone before God. You have a Savior who understands you fully and who lovingly brings you close to the Father.
Let’s Pray
Lord Jesus, thank You for being my mediator and for making a way for me to come close to God. Thank You for understanding both my weakness and my deepest needs.
I could never reach God on my own, but through Your love and sacrifice, I have access to the Father. Help me to live with confidence in this grace.
Lord, when I feel distant or unworthy, remind me that You stand for me and intercede on my behalf. Draw me closer to Your presence and strengthen my relationship with You.
Thank You for removing the separation between me and God and for giving me peace, hope, and reconciliation.
