BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY: “At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year’s produce and store it in your towns, so that the Levites… and the foreigners, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.” – Deuteronomy 14:28–29
God has always cared deeply for people in need.
In Deuteronomy 14:28–29, God instructed His people to set aside resources not only for worship, but also to care for the Levites, foreigners, orphans, and widows—those who were vulnerable and often overlooked.
This passage reveals the compassionate heart of God.
True obedience to God is not only seen in prayers, songs, or religious activities. It is also reflected in how we treat others, especially those who are struggling. God calls His people to live with generosity, kindness, and a willingness to help meet the needs around them.
Everything we have ultimately comes from Him.
Our time, resources, abilities, and blessings are not meant to be kept selfishly. God often blesses us so we can become a blessing to others. A generous heart reflects the character of God Himself.
And generosity is not only about money.
You can give encouragement to the discouraged.
You can give time to someone who feels alone.
You can show compassion to those carrying heavy burdens.
Small acts of kindness can become powerful expressions of God’s love.
This passage also reminds us that God honors hearts that care for others. He promised blessing upon the work of His people when they walked in obedience and compassion.
When we open our hands to help others, our hearts become more aligned with God’s heart.
So today, ask God to make you sensitive to the needs around you. Be willing to share, serve, encourage, and give generously.
Because a compassionate life becomes a channel through which God’s love flows to the world.
Let’s Pray:
Lord God, thank You for every blessing You have placed in my life. Teach me not to live selfishly, but with a heart of generosity and compassion.
Help me to see the needs of people around me and to respond with kindness, love, and willingness to help. Make me a blessing to those who are hurting, struggling, or overlooked.
Lord, teach me to use my time, resources, and abilities in ways that honor You and reflect Your heart.
Thank You because You are a faithful Provider, and Your love continually flows toward me and through me.
