Daily Prayer for Today 12th May 2026, Tuesday – A Prayer to Trust the Shepherd Who Leads and Sustains You

BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul…” – Psalm 23:1–6
Psalm 23 is one of the most comforting passages in Scripture because it reminds us of who God is—a loving Shepherd who faithfully cares for His people.
A shepherd watches over, protects, guides, and provides for the sheep. In the same way, God watches over every detail of your life. David begins with this powerful declaration: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”
When God is your Shepherd, you are never without care.
This does not mean life will always be easy, but it means you will never walk through it alone. God knows what you need before you even ask. He provides strength when you are weak, peace when you are troubled, and guidance when you are uncertain.
The psalm says He leads us beside quiet waters and restores our souls.
There are seasons when life becomes noisy and exhausting. Worries increase, responsibilities grow, and the soul becomes weary. But God knows how to lead us into places of rest. His presence refreshes what stress has drained.
David also speaks of walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Notice he says through the valley—not stuck in it. Difficult seasons may come, but they are not the end of your story.
And even there, God is present.
“I will fear no evil, for You are with me.”
That is the confidence of a believer. Not the absence of trouble, but the assurance of God’s presence in the middle of it.
Finally, the psalm ends with hope and security: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.”
What a promise.
God’s goodness is pursuing you. His mercy is walking beside you. And His presence will remain with you forever.
So today, rest in the care of your Shepherd. Let Him lead you, restore you, and remind you that you are safely held in His hands.

Lord God, thank You for being my Shepherd. Thank You for watching over me, guiding me, and providing for every need in my life.
When my heart feels weary, restore my soul. Lead me beside Your peaceful waters and help me to rest in Your presence.
Lord, even when I walk through difficult valleys, help me not to fear. Remind me that You are with me, protecting and sustaining me every step of the way.
Thank You for Your goodness and mercy that follow me daily. Help me to trust You completely and to walk confidently under Your care.
