BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY: “So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’” – Luke 17:10
True greatness in God’s kingdom is found in humility.
In Luke 17:10, Jesus teaches His disciples that after faithfully carrying out their responsibilities, they should not seek praise or recognition. Instead, they should humbly say, “We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.”
This does not mean that God sees His children as worthless. Throughout Scripture, we are reminded that we are deeply loved, redeemed by the blood of Christ, and adopted into God’s family. Rather, Jesus is teaching us to serve with humility, remembering that everything we have and everything we accomplish comes from God’s grace.
Our gifts are from Him.
Our strength is from Him.
Every opportunity to serve is a privilege, not an achievement to boast about.
Pride seeks applause.
Humility seeks to please God.
When we serve with humble hearts, we stop comparing ourselves with others and focus on being faithful to the work God has entrusted to us. Whether our service is seen by many or known only to God, He values every act done in love and obedience.
God is not looking for perfect people.
He is looking for faithful servants.
Those who quietly obey His Word, love others sincerely, and serve without seeking recognition bring great joy to His heart.
Today, let your greatest desire be to honor God rather than impress people. Serve Him with gratitude, knowing that your labor in the Lord is never in vain.
The greatest reward is not the praise of people but the smile of the Master whom we serve.
Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of serving You. Thank You for every gift, ability, and opportunity You have graciously entrusted to me.
Lord, keep my heart humble and free from pride. Help me to serve You faithfully without seeking recognition or praise from others. Teach me to remember that everything I have comes from Your grace.
Give me a willing spirit to obey Your Word, love others sincerely, and carry out every assignment with joy and faithfulness.
May my life bring glory to Your name, and may my greatest desire always be to hear You say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Thank You for allowing me to be a part of Your work and for strengthening me each day by Your Spirit.
