BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY: “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” – Romans 5:3–4 (NIV)
Suffering is not something we naturally welcome. When challenges come, our first instinct is often to ask God to remove them. We long for relief, comfort, and quick solutions.
But Romans 5:3–4 reveals a deeper purpose in our struggles.
It tells us that we can glory in our sufferings. Not because pain is pleasant, but because of what God produces through it. Every trial carries the potential for growth when placed in God’s hands.
Suffering produces perseverance.
Perseverance is the strength to keep going, even when it’s hard. It is the ability to stand firm when everything around you feels uncertain. Without challenges, this strength would never develop.
Perseverance produces character.
Character is who you become in the process. It is the shaping of your heart—your patience, your humility, your faith, and your trust in God. Trials refine you, removing what is unnecessary and strengthening what truly matters.
And character produces hope.
This is not wishful thinking. It is a deep, confident assurance that God is at work and that His promises are true. Hope grows when you see how God carries you through difficult seasons.
So what you are going through is not wasted.
Every challenge, every struggle, every moment of endurance is shaping you into who God has called you to be. He is building strength, refining your character, and filling your heart with lasting hope.
So don’t lose heart in the process. Trust that God is working, even when it’s hard to see.
Because through it all, He is making you stronger.
Let’s Pray:
Lord God, I bring my struggles before You. You see every challenge I face and every burden I carry.
Help me to trust that even in suffering, You are working for my good. Teach me to endure with faith and to remain steady in difficult times.
Lord, build perseverance in me. Shape my character and make me more like You. Let every trial draw me closer to You and strengthen my trust in Your plan.
Fill my heart with hope—a confident assurance that You are working and that Your promises will come to pass.
Thank You for never wasting my pain and for using every moment to grow me.
