Daily Guide 22nd March 2025(Scripture Union) OUTLINE
Earlier, Jesus sent out the twelve disciples to share the Good News, ‘drive out evil spirits and heal every disease and sickness’ (Matthew 10:1). Mark records that they did go out, they did drive out demons and healed many sick people (Mark 6:12-13). Why then did they fail this time (Matthew 17:16)?
Read Matthew 17:17-18 again and consider Jesus’ reply and what He did after. Can you identify what was lacking in the life of the disciples? The power to cast out demons or heal diseases is in Jesus alone; we do not have any power on our own to heal.
When they were alone with Jesus, the disciples acknowledged their limitations and so asked Him why they failed (Matthew 17:19). Whenever we notice any limitation or failure in us, we should not hesitate to go to the Lord. He will teach us what to do to overcome.
The temple tax was a half-shekel paid annually by adult males. The money was used initially for the upkeep of the Tent of Meeting (Exodus 30:11-16) and later for the Temple. What can we learn from Jesus’ attitude to taxation (Matthew 17:25-27)?

Father, help me to grow in faith, so that I can handle situations that may come my way.
PRAYER FOR THE WEEK:
**Pray against unbelief in God’s children, which does not allow one to fully enjoy all that God has promised.
**Pray for grace to stand firmly on the word of God
**Pray against murmuring and complaining in the lives of children of God.

* The speaker will deliver as God leads – needs will be met and burdens lifted. • The heavens will open and God will speak and his people will hear. • Grace to stay long in His presence without getting tired.
