📖 Bible Verse for Today

Romans 8:28 (KJV)
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

🌿 A Word for Your Heart

Life has a way of throwing us off course. A door slams shut unexpectedly. A relationship fractures. A health crisis upends everything you thought was certain. In those moments, the carefully constructed plans you held so tightly seem to crumble in your hands. And if you are honest, the questions come rushing in: Why is this happening? Where is God in this? Does He even see?

Daily Devotional for Today (April 15, 2026) | Morning Prayer & Bible Verse

Into that space of confusion and pain steps one of the most profound promises in all of Scripture: “All things work together for good.”

Notice that the verse does not say that all things are good. It does not suggest that every circumstance you face is pleasant, fair, or deserved. Some things are undeniably heartbreaking. Some things are the result of a fallen world, others of poor choices—your own or someone else’s. Paul was not minimizing your pain; he was pointing to a reality greater than your pain.

The promise is not that everything will make sense in the moment. The promise is that nothing is wasted in the hands of a sovereign God.

He is not a passive observer of your life. He is actively weaving—taking the broken threads, the tangled knots, the dark colors you never would have chosen—and working them into a tapestry that, from His eternal perspective, is beautiful. You may only see the backside of the embroidery right now: the messy knots, the loose ends, the chaotic pattern. But God sees the finished work.

This verse also comes with a context. It is not a blanket promise for everyone; it is for “them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” This means that your trust in Him is the foundation upon which this promise rests. When you love God—when you have given your life to Him and are walking in His purposes—you can rest assured that He is wielding even your trials for your ultimate good and His glory.

The “good” He is working toward may not be your comfort or convenience. It may be your character. It may be your dependence on Him. It may be a testimony that will one day carry someone else through their own dark valley. It may be something you will not fully understand until you see Him face to face.

Today, if you are in a season of confusion or heartache, take heart. You do not have to manufacture optimism. You do not have to pretend the pain isn’t real. But you are invited to trust the heart of the One who holds all things together. He is not finished. He is not absent. And He is not wasting a single tear.

Morning Prayer

Father,
I come to You with honesty. Some things in my life do not make sense to me. There are situations that hurt, questions that remain unanswered, and outcomes I did not expect.
Thank You that I do not have to understand everything to trust You. Thank You that Your promise does not depend on my ability to see the full picture, but on Your character as a faithful God.
Help me to believe that You are working—even now, even in this—for my good. Not the shallow good of comfort, but the deep good of being conformed to Your purposes and drawn closer to Your heart.
When I am tempted to lose hope, remind me that You are the Weaver. Nothing is wasted. Nothing is beyond Your reach.
I release my need to control the outcome. I choose to trust the process because I trust You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection for Today

Take a moment to sit with these questions. Be honest with yourself and with God:

  • Is there a situation in your life right now that feels confusing, unfair, or painful? Have you been trying to make sense of it on your own?

  • What would it look like for you to trust God with that situation—not because you understand it, but because you trust Him?

  • Can you look back at a past difficulty and see, even in hindsight, how God was working in ways you could not see at the time?

  • What does “good” mean to you? Is it comfort, or is it becoming more like Christ?

Key Takeaway

God is not wasting your pain. What feels like a setback is often a setup for something deeper. You may not see the full picture yet, but the Weaver is at work, and His promise stands: in the hands of a loving God, nothing is lost, and nothing is without purpose.
