Daily Devotional Message
Today’s daily devotional reminds us that one of the greatest sources of confidence in the Christian life is knowing that God is always with us. Hebrews 13:5–6 contains a promise and a response. First, God gives His promise: “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Then believers respond with confidence: “The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear.”
This is the foundation of true courage.
Many people live with fear because they feel alone in facing life’s challenges. They worry about the future, financial needs, health concerns, relationships, and circumstances beyond their control.
But God’s Word offers a different perspective.
When God is your helper, you never face life’s battles by yourself.
The phrase “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” is one of the strongest assurances found in Scripture. God is not promising occasional assistance. He is promising His continual presence.
He is with you:
- In seasons of abundance and seasons of need.
- In moments of joy and moments of sorrow.
- During victories and during struggles.
- When you feel strong and when you feel weak.
God’s presence is not dependent on your feelings.
Some days you may feel spiritually encouraged and aware of His nearness. Other days you may feel discouraged or distant. Yet His promise remains unchanged.
He is faithful even when emotions fluctuate.
Because of that promise, believers can boldly declare: “The Lord is my helper.”
Notice that the writer does not say, “The Lord was my helper” or “The Lord might help me.”
He says, “The Lord is my helper.”
That means God’s help is available in the present.
Right now.
Today.
In the situation you are facing.
In the burden you are carrying.
In the decision you need to make.
God is not a distant observer watching from afar. He is actively involved in the lives of His children.
Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly proved Himself to be a helper.
He helped Noah survive the flood.
He helped Moses confront Pharaoh.
He helped David defeat Goliath.
He helped Daniel in the lions’ den.
He helped Paul through persecution and hardship.
And He continues to help His people today.
Another important truth in this passage is the connection between God’s presence and freedom from fear.
The writer says, “I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
Fear loses its power when faith grows stronger.
This does not mean challenges disappear.
It means believers no longer face those challenges alone.
People may oppose you.
Circumstances may change.
Unexpected difficulties may arise.
But none of those things can separate you from God’s presence.
When God is your helper, you can face uncertainty with confidence.
Not confidence in yourself.
Not confidence in circumstances.
But confidence in the faithfulness of God.
This passage also speaks about contentment.
The writer encourages believers to be free from covetousness and to be content with what they have. Why? Because contentment grows when we recognize that God’s presence is more valuable than anything this world can offer.
Earthly possessions may come and go.
But God’s presence remains.
Success may fluctuate.
But God’s faithfulness remains.
Circumstances may change.
But God’s promises remain.
Perhaps today you are facing a situation that feels overwhelming.
Maybe you are worried about the future, struggling with uncertainty, or carrying a burden that feels too heavy.
Take heart.
God has not abandoned you.
He is still your helper.
He is still your provider.
He is still your protector.
He is still your guide.
And because He is with you, you can move forward with courage.
Today, choose faith over fear.
Choose contentment over anxiety.
And boldly declare with confidence:
“The Lord is my helper.”
Because when God is your helper, you have every reason to trust Him.
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your promise that You will never leave me nor forsake me. Thank You for being my helper in every season of life.
Lord, when fear tries to overwhelm me, remind me of Your presence. Help me trust You more than I trust my circumstances.
Teach me to be content in You and to find my security in Your faithfulness rather than in temporary things.
Strengthen my heart today. Give me courage to face every challenge and confidence to walk by faith.
Thank You for Your constant love, guidance, and protection. I declare today that You are my helper, and I place my trust completely in You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
