Matthew 25:24 is part of Jesus’ Parable of the Talents, a powerful lesson about stewardship, responsibility, and faithfulness.
In this verse, the servant who received one talent begins explaining why he failed to invest what his master had entrusted to him. His words reveal a heart controlled by fear rather than faith.
Instead of focusing on the opportunity he had been given, he focused on his perception of the master.
Fear caused him to do nothing.
Fear often has the same effect on believers today.
Many people hesitate to use their gifts because they fear failure.
Some avoid pursuing God’s calling because they fear rejection.
Others bury their talents because they feel inadequate compared to those around them.
The servant in this parable allowed fear to become an excuse for inaction.
As a result, the talent entrusted to him produced nothing.
God has entrusted every believer with gifts, abilities, opportunities, resources, and influence.
Some may have more visible gifts, while others serve quietly behind the scenes.
But every gift matters in God’s kingdom.
The issue is not how much we have received.
The issue is what we do with what we have been given.
The servant’s mistake was not that he had only one talent.
His mistake was that he failed to use it.
God does not measure faithfulness by comparison.
He measures faithfulness by obedience.
A person who faithfully uses a small opportunity can bring great glory to God.
A simple act of kindness, a word of encouragement, a prayer offered in faith, or a gift used for God’s purposes can have an eternal impact.
The enemy often whispers that what you have is too small to matter.
But throughout Scripture, God consistently uses ordinary people and seemingly insignificant resources to accomplish extraordinary things.
Moses had a staff.
David had a sling.
The boy in the crowd had five loaves and two fish.
When placed in God’s hands, small things become powerful tools for His purposes.
Perhaps today you have been holding back because of fear.
Maybe you feel unqualified.
Maybe you are waiting for the perfect moment.
Maybe you believe someone else is better suited for the task.
God is not asking you to compare yourself with others.
He is asking you to be faithful with what He has entrusted to you.
Do not allow fear to bury your calling.
Do not allow doubt to silence your gift.
Trust God, step forward in faith, and use what He has given you for His glory.
The Lord delights in those who faithfully steward His blessings and opportunities.
Today, choose faith over fear and obedience over hesitation.
God can do far more through your surrendered life than you can imagine.
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for every gift, opportunity, and blessing You have entrusted to me. Forgive me for the times I have allowed fear, doubt, or insecurity to keep me from serving You wholeheartedly.
Lord, help me to be a faithful steward of all that You have placed in my hands. Give me courage to use my gifts for Your glory and for the benefit of others.
Remove every fear that hinders me from walking in Your purpose. Strengthen my faith and help me trust that You will equip me for every assignment You call me to fulfill.
Teach me not to compare myself with others but to remain faithful in the work You have given me to do.
May my life produce fruit that honors You and advances Your kingdom.
Thank You for Your guidance, strength, and grace.
