📖 Bible Verse for Today
Acts 1:11 (NIV)
“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
Daily Devotional Message
Today’s daily devotional reminds us of a powerful and often overlooked truth—the promise of Jesus’ return. In Acts 1:11, as the disciples stood watching Jesus ascend into heaven, two angels appeared and asked them an important question: “Why do you stand here looking into the sky?”
This question carries a deeper meaning for us today.
The disciples had just witnessed something extraordinary. Jesus, whom they had followed, learned from, and loved, was taken up into heaven before their eyes. Naturally, they stood there in awe, gazing upward, perhaps wondering what would happen next.
But the angels redirected their focus.
They reminded the disciples that Jesus would return—but they also implied that life and purpose must continue in the meantime. The disciples were not meant to remain standing still, staring into the sky. They were called to move forward, to live out their mission, and to carry the message of Christ to the world.
This speaks directly to us.
As believers, we are given the hope of Christ’s return. This promise is not meant to make us passive or distracted, but to inspire us to live with purpose, faith, and urgency.
Sometimes, we can become spiritually stagnant—waiting, wondering, or delaying action. We may say, “I’ll serve God later,” or “I’ll grow in my faith when things settle down.” But this verse reminds us that now is the time to live actively for God.
The promise that “this same Jesus… will come back” gives us hope and assurance. It tells us that history is not random—God has a plan, and Christ will return to fulfill it. No matter what is happening in the world, God remains in control.
This hope should shape how we live.
It should influence our priorities, our decisions, and our attitudes. When you truly believe that Jesus will return, you begin to live differently. You become more intentional about your faith, more mindful of your actions, and more focused on what truly matters.
At the same time, this promise brings comfort. In a world filled with uncertainty, injustice, and challenges, we are reminded that this is not the end of the story. Jesus will return, and everything will be made right.
But until that day comes, we are called to live faithfully.
We are called to grow in our relationship with God, to love others, to share the message of hope, and to reflect Christ in our daily lives. We are not meant to stand still—we are meant to move forward with purpose.
If you have been feeling stuck, unmotivated, or uncertain about your direction, let this verse encourage you. God has given you a purpose right where you are. There is something He wants you to do today.
Don’t just look up—step forward.
Live your life with expectation, knowing that Jesus will return, but also with action, making the most of every opportunity God gives you.
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the promise that Jesus will return. This gives me hope and reminds me that You are in control of all things.
Help me not to be passive or distracted, but to live with purpose and intention. Teach me to make the most of every day and to walk in obedience to Your will.
Lord, guide my steps and help me to reflect Your love in everything I do. Strengthen my faith and keep my heart focused on what truly matters.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
