Daily Bible Verse for Today 17 July 2025 – The Eager Householder
For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. — Matt 20:1
In this parable, Jesus reveals to us the heart of God. The Father’s heart yearns for the perishing souls of men. For reasons beyond our understanding, God chooses to use men to reach men, and so at every stage of life, He calls to us, saying, “Go work in My vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you. I need your help in the salvation of countless souls, whose redemption I seek with blood and tears.”

He calls to you, dear children, in the early morning of your life. The dew is still on the grass, the birds are waking, life is in its springtime, and God’s voice comes to you, saying, “I need you to help Me in My vineyard. There is much work to do—watering, pruning, weeding—and few laborers to do it. I have a small plot just for you. Come quickly and work with Me.”
He calls to you, young men and women. Three hours have passed, and yet you stand idle, unsure of your life’s work. Are you thinking of becoming a missionary, a minister, a doctor, or a teacher? Will you pursue art, music, or commerce? Whatever path you choose, let it be for the higher purpose of helping God save the world.
He calls to you in the afternoon or evening of life. Perhaps you have made a comfortable living and no longer need to work as hard as before. But the Master comes, saying, “Go, work in My vineyard. Use your money, time, and influence for Me.” Even if it is only an hour before sunset, the call remains urgent. Though you may have been idle all day, He still seeks your help. Oh, may the urgency of God’s love move us! Will you answer His call with “Here am I, send me”?
PRAYER OF THE DAY
O God, we have heard Your call! Please accept our hands to labor for You, and our lips to speak for You. Send us into Your vineyard, and use us in Your holy service. Amen.
