BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY
My heart said, “Seek His face.” Your face, O LORD, I will seek. — Ps 27:8 BSB
The Bible is like a dictaphone, recording the very words of God. As we read its pages, they convey His living words to us. There are many things in Scripture that may be difficult to understand at first because God’s thoughts are far higher than ours, just as heaven is higher than the earth. Charles Spurgeon once said that when he ate fish, he didn’t try to swallow the bones but set them aside. In the same way, if there’s something in the Bible beyond your understanding, set it aside for now and focus on what nourishes your soul.
The Bible contains thousands of promises, like a book of signed checks from God. When you find a promise that speaks to your need, don’t come to God as if you must persuade Him to keep His word. Humbly present it in the name of Jesus. Ensure, as far as you know, that you are meeting any conditions attached to the promise. Then, with confidence, look up to your Heavenly Father and trust that He will fulfill what He has said. It’s up to Him to choose the time and way in which He answers. Wait patiently, and you will find that God’s response will come at the perfect moment—never too early, never too late. “My soul, wait only on God, for my expectation is from Him” (Psalm 62:5). “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her” (Luke 1:45).
Whether it concerns your body, soul, or spirit, there is no guide like the Holy Scriptures. But always begin your reading by looking to the Author of the Word, asking Him to illuminate the page and make you wise unto salvation. “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.”
