Scripture: Matt 14:14
And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.(NKJV)
The people that God surrounds us within our home, workplace, school, ministry, or place of recreation have been put in our lives for a reason. We struggle sometimes, only looking at our own path, perhaps not considering those around us. The disciples did the same, even while serving people alongside Jesus all day.
Matt 14:15
When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”

Yet we see, in the midst of a long day, the longing of the Lord’s heart toward the people was one of compassion and concern. Perhaps you come faithfully to church to listen to bible studies and haven’t yet come asking to see if you can help serve so that others may be blessed. Maybe there is someone that you see every day at work that needs you to offer to pray for them or could use your help practically. It’s amazing when people begin to understand that life is about being an extension of God’s love and compassion to others. When we do that, we begin fulfilling our call of becoming more like Jesus in all we do.
2 Cor 8:8-9
8 I speak not by commandment, but I am testing the sincerity of your love by the diligence of others. 9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.(NKJV)
Life Lesson: To love well is to serve well.
Lord,
Please fill me with compassion and love for those who may be weary around me. Please give me the power to follow You with all my heart considering You and others You have called me to love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
