And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
In Exodus 17:9-13 we see Joshua (representing the younger generation) sent out to fight as Moses (representing the older generation) asked. Then we see Moses with the rod of God up on the hill holding his hands up during the battle. As Moses’ hands are raised up Joshua has victory over the enemy. Is there a connection friend? I believe so. When the older generation (parents, grandparents, and those in spiritual authority over our children) are willing to invest and enable faith to be released into the younger generation and when the younger generation is acknowledging, respecting, and adhering to the older generation and spiritual authority in their lives it’s a win-win situation spiritually.
It’s important to note the greatest contribution we as parents can give our children is our own passionate pursuit of Jesus in both good and hard times. We do this by not letting our fleshly preferences get in the way of our pursuit of what the Lord wants to do in our life and their life in Christ. The Lord desires we know Him not just know about Him.
John 5:39-40(NKJV)
39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
Friend, Jesus invites us to this deep intimacy; not just the experience of His promises but a personal relationship with Him. Make a personal investment in connecting with the Lord and invite the younger generation around you to do the same.
Life Lesson: Young people must understand being connected to spiritual mothers and fathers. Spiritual mothers and fathers must be willing to invest in and release the younger generation.
Lord,
Please help me connect to those in authority spiritually and help me be the encourager of youth or others around me to build their own faith in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
