Charles Stanley Daily Devotional TOPIC: Releasing the Holy Spirit’s Power
SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:26-27
God’s Spirit indwells believers at salvation, which means His power is available from that moment (Ephesians 1:13). But how do we actually access and experience that power in daily life?
First, acknowledge the need. We must accept that in and of ourselves, we are powerless to live out God’s will. No matter how capable, smart, or strong we may be, our own resources are insufficient for the Christian life.
Second, surrender completely. This means we’re to give the Holy Spirit full authority over every area of life—not just our “spiritual” activities but also our vocation, finances, family, and relationships. The Spirit won’t release supernatural power into a life that’s holding back or continuing in rebellion.
Third, exercise faith. In other words, actively trust God instead of just mentally agreeing with Him. Faith is what releases the Spirit’s power. It’s as if we’re saying, “I believe You have a plan, God, so I’m trusting You to give me what I need to do Your will.” When you step out in faith, He will provide for every need.
But don’t just memorize these steps—live them. Always remind yourself, I can’t, but God can. His plans are for my good and His glory. That’s the kind of life that overflows with the Holy Spirit’s power.
BIBLE IN A YEAR: Psalms 103-106
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: God’s power flows when we recognize our need, surrender our control, and step out in faith.
