TODAY’S BIBLE VERSE: I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. – Isaiah 61:10

INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE
People like to get decked out for special occasions. They’ll go out and buy fancy clothes, fancy shoes, all kinds of jewelry because it’s a very special event. High school prom is a perfect example of this. Girls spend hundreds of dollars on dresses, makeup, hair, shoes, and jewelry items for a one-night party. By the time the couple pays for their clothes, the tickets to the prom and everything else, they have hundreds and hundreds of dollars invested in this one night . We also see this with weddings. Bible Verse And Morning Prayer 21 February 2022

Thousands of dollars spent on bridesmaids gowns and tuxedos, not to mention thousands of dollars spent on wedding dresses. But people still do it. They understand how expensive it is and yet they will shell out all of this money for the special event. Why? Because it’s a celebration. And people like to go out of their way to celebrate. They pull out all the stops–and their wallets. In this passage from Isaiah, we see another type of celebration.

The prophet talks about the garments of salvation. He says that God has clothed us with the garments of salvation. He also says that we have been “covered with the robe of righteousness” He compares his rejoicing in the Lord and what the Lord has done for him, to a bride groom and a bride preparing themselves for a wedding. It doesn’t matter how much trouble it is. The fact is that this is a huge and incredible celebration.

The scripture from Isaiah is also celebration. It’s part of a looking forward from the Old Testament to the New Testament. From Isaiah, we can look forward to the celebration of Jesus Christ as the bridegroom returning for his bride.

PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, I thank You for Your salvation. I thank You for the promise of the wedding feast. Prepare me for that day. Clothe me in Your garments of salvation and Your robes of righteousness, so that I might be ready when the bridegroom comes. Amen.
