5 For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.
6 Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.
7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.
8 Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast.
9 Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.
TODAY’S MESSAGE
The Lord our God is great, greater than all things, and greaterthan all gods. He created all things, both visible and invisible, and is in control of all. His power is over all. Indeed, God is omnipotent! Verses 6 and 7 of our text show some of His powers over the physical universe. He has power over people, human authorities, and all living creatures. He sent signs and wonders in Egypt in order to liberate the children of Israel.
When Abraham was in a dilemma over the delay in the fulfilment of the divine promise to give him a biological son, God asked him “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Gen. 18:14). Indeed, nothing is too difficult for God to do. How can we put this knowledge into action? Three important steps can be suggested. The first is to ask yourself a sober question and give an honest answer to it.
Do you really believe deep down in your heart that God can do all things? If you do, then do you really believe that God has power over the present personal or other challenges facing you? If so, then trust God in faith that He “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think”(Ephesians 3: 20). Tell Him your challenges.
PRAYER: Omnipotent God, I confess that there is no one like you. Fight my battles.
