Daily Fountain Devotional 7th April 2024 TOPIC: Testimonies of God’s Deliverance

TEXT: Psalm 34: 1-10(AMP)
34:1. [A Psalm] of David; when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, who drove him out, and he went away. I WILL bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
34:2. My life makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble and afflicted hear and be glad.
34:3. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.

34:4. I sought (inquired of) the Lord and required Him [of necessity and on the authority of His Word], and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. [Ps. 73:25; Matt. 7:7.]
34:5. They looked to Him and were radiant; their faces shall never blush for shame or be confused.
34:6. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

34:7. The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe] and each of them He delivers. [Ps. 18:1; 145:20.]
34:8. O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him. [I Pet. 2:2, 3.]
34:9. O fear the Lord, you His saints [revere and worship Him]! For there is no want to those who truly revere and worship Him with godly fear.

34:10. The young lions lack food and suffer hunger, but they who seek (inquire of and require) the Lord [by right of their need and on the authority of His Word], none of them shall lack any beneficial thing.

TODAY’S STUDY:

This is a psalm of David which he wrote probably from the cave at Adullam. A fugitive from Saul, David went to the Philistine city of Gath but found no refuge there and narrowly escaped (1Sam. 21: 10-22: 1). Following that, he went to this cave where many desperate men joined him. This joyful and wise psalm shows that we need to be thankful at all times, no matter the circumstance we find ourselves (vv. 1-2). David knew there was something attractive about the true praise of God(vv.3-7).

When one genuinely praises God, he or she wants to draw others into the practice of praise. If it is good for one to exalt His name, then it is even better to do it together with His people. David testifies how God delivered him and also lighted the darkness in the lives of his friends. Don’t be selfish about the testimonies of God, because God does not love only you. Others’ testimonies are yours also. David challenges us to experience God’s goodness for ourselves (vv. 8-10) and this can come through a personal encounter. God can do it again and again. Learn to testify of God’s goodness publicly and praise Him continually.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for your kindness, provisions and tender mercies.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: God says “I will protect and carry you all the days of your life. Isaiah 46:4”
