Daily Fountain Devotional 23 January 2026 FRIDAY TOPIC: Being Like-Minded
SCRIPTURE READING: John 3:22-30
22 After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He remained with them and baptized. 23 Now John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized. 24 For John had not yet been thrown into prison.
25 Then there arose a dispute between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purification. 26 And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified—behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him!”

27 John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven. 28 You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’ 29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
Anglican Daily Fountain Devotional 23 January 2026 MESSAGE
As John was baptising in Aenon, Jesus and His disciples came into Judea and baptised there. John’s disciples came and complained to him that Jesus was baptising and al the people were going to Him. The statement made by John’s disciples was enough to bring envy and jealousy in the life of John the Baptist towards Jesus, but being a man of understanding and knowing the scope of his own assignment, he confirmed the supremacy of Jesus and also stated that Jesus would increase while he would decrease.
Comparison and competition abound where there is a lack of this vital truth: “A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.”This speaks of contentment in whatsoever ministry or calling we have received from the Lord, knowing that there is no other source. One cunning way Satan attacks the work of God in our hands is to stir up strife and envy among God’s people. When all we seek is to glorify Jesus in our different callings, then we will always rejoice whenever we see Him glorified, whether through us or others. Are you happy when you see other believers prospering more than you? Develop a kingdom mindset when you are involved in kingdom work (Phil.2:2-5).
PRAYER: Father, help me to seek nothing but your glory.
