Daily Fountain Devotional 19 August 2026 TOPIC: Praying for Our Leaders
SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5
In our text, Paul stated clearly, “Brethren, pray for us” that the Word of the Lord may spread rapidly and we be delivered from wicked and evil people who hate the Gospel (vv. 1-2).
It is not common for a notable and visible spiritual leader to ask for prayers. Some people feel that when God is using a man mightily, he may not need people to pray for him. In fact, he is assumed to know his way with God. The truth remains that we are all flesh with frailties and subject to possible fall or missing the direction. For our Master to rise early to pray (Mark 1:35) and asking Peter, James and John (Matt. 26:36-38) to join Him to pray before His arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane is a humbling call that we all need prayers including our leaders.
We may not wait for them to ask for our prayers. We may be doing so in our closets knowing that they need it. If it has not been part of our prayer habit, may we start now or intensify it if we have been doing so. Brethren, pray for us.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, may you constantly remind me to pray for my spiritual leaders.
