Daily Fountain Devotional 18 June 2026 TOPIC: Manifesting the Fruits of the Spirit
SCRIPTURE READING: Galatians 5:13-26
13Â For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
14Â For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
15Â But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
16Â This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17Â For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18Â But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19Â Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20Â Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21Â Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22Â But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Â Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24Â And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25Â If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26Â Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
TODAY’S MESSAGE
As believers, we are called to walk in the Spirit and this enables us to bear fruit such as love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (vv. 5:22-23). These qualities are essential, as they demonstrate our commitment to following Christ. In contrast, living in the flesh leads to a different set of characteristics, including adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, and revelries (Gal. 5:19-21). The consequences of such behaviour are severe, as those who practise them will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Beloved, many people today are easily weighed down by messages that constantly warn them of the dangers of living under the influence of the sinful flesh. One reason for this is that such individuals have not crucified their flesh and are still strangers to walking by the Spirit. Exhibiting the fruits of the Spirit is essential for any Christian who must make heaven at last. You must check how well you manifest the characters of God in your daily life by showing to everyone around you that Christ lives in you. The fruits of the Spirit and not the gifts of the Spirit, will show the beauty of Christ’s image in your activities today and always.
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father, give me the grace to always manifest the fruits of the Spirit in all I do. Amen.
