Anglican Daily Fountain Devotional 16 March 2020 – Hand Over Your Challenge to God
TOPIC: Hand Over Your Challenge to God
SCRIPTURE: Judges 5:19-31
MESSAGE: Today’s reading is a continuation of the song of praise to God by Deborah and Barak for the victory God gave to them over Sisera and his people. God used Jael, a woman, to disgrace Sisera(vs. 24-27)- he died a disgraceful death. God also mustered the elements of creation into the battle of His people- “They fought from heaven, the stars in their courses fought against Sisera” (v.20). The mother of Sisera lamented over her son, Sisera,in the same way he usually made other mothers to lament over their own children(vs. 28-30).
Canaan was just a sample of the nations that ganged up against the nation of Israel(v.19). They all fell as they came. God is still the same, yesterday, today and forever. He is also unpredictable in the defence of His children- He can adopt any method to do His will. As we serve Him all our lives, He knows how to fight our battles. When we face threats, challenges and other life intricacies, we only need to involve God into it. What challenge are you facing today? Does it look as if it is overwhelming you that you can do nothing? Why not hand it over to God today! The same God that saved Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fire and Daniel from lions will surely give you an unusual victory and put songs of praise in your mouth.
PRAYER: Lord, I hand over my battles to you; I have no strength over these numerous enemies.
