TOPIC: Open Heavens

TEXT: Luke 3:21-22(NKJV)
21. When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened.
22. And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.”

STUDY: Today’s scripture is arranged in sequence: Jesus was baptised, a was praying; the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit in form of a dove alighted on Him; then God spoke to approve Him. Apart from the fact that baptism is a means of obtaining God’s grace, it is a sign of acknowledging that one is a sinner and is coming to Christ in repentance for the forgiveness of sin. If Christ not being a sinner was baptised, then all of us need to be baptised.

As Jesus prayed, the heavens opened. Prayer brings open heavens; and open ieavens give casy access to God. When the heavens are open, one will operate under God’s wisdom, mercy, guidance and favour in all that one does. There will be no undue stress and wasted efforts and time because God will reveal to you His secrets and tactics. But the question is how many people really make out time to pray every day? If you don’t want to operate under a closed heaven, then determine to pray well and study the bible daily. If the heavens open for you, the Holy Spirit will lead you in all you do and you will obtain God’s favour and approval.

PRAYER: Gracious God, please draw me close to You in prayer. Help me to operate under open heavens and in all my work, help me to find Your presence.

Daily Fountain Quote of the Day

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills – from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” (Psalm 121:1)
