TREM DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE – MONDAY

One thing that the church struggles to accept is that God does not condemn them. God is not mad at you and God is not planning to judge you. If God judges you, it would be tantamount to double jeopardy because we have already been judged in Christ. The sacrifice of Christ is effective for our total salvation and we can’t be condemned by God, the righteous Judge. That was why when Adam sinned it was God who came seeking for him in the cool of the day to fellowship with him.

When God asked Adam why he was hiding, he said he heard the voice of God and saw that he was naked, and he was afraid and went to hide. God still did not condemn man. It was man who condemned himself and ran away from the living God. Look at what man did when he saw that they were naked. They sewed fig leaves to cover themselves. Now leaves cannot cover you effectively as they would easily wither and fall away. Fig leaves are a type of man’s effort to cover himself. Man’s effort, man’s performance, and man’s doing can never cover you until God cover you.

Now I want you to see the mercy of God on display. When you read further the bible says “Adam called his wife’s name Eve because she was the mother of all living. Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them” (Genesis 3:20-21). The man messed up and blew it in the face of God. He deserved to be thrown into the gallows and to be killed.

Rather than condemn man, God provided covering for man. God was saying, I don’t want to see them in their messed-up condition. I want to see them in the way I want them to be. He came down slaughtered an animal, skinned it, and covered them. God did not stop there. He also kept man away from the Garden of Eden lest he eats from the tree of life in his present condition and messes up the redemption agenda which was what the devil wanted to achieve.
